Learn the P.E.C.S.I framework with Teacher Daniel!

The O-Level English Oral Exam shouldn’t be a source of stress. With the right materials and some confidence, scoring well can be something you look forward to.

This article explains an organisation framework I often teach my students, called the P.E.C.S.I. method. I’ve also created a video series that covers it in detail across eight parts. Watch it carefully and use it to work towards the grades you’re aiming for.

Part 1

In the first part of the series, I give a brief explanation of how to prepare for the ‘Planned Response’ by focusing on the “more” question type, which many students commonly get wrong.

Part 2

In this part, I explain how to use the P.E.C.S.I. framework by focusing on the first three components: P for Point, E for Explain, and C for Context.

Part 3

In the third part of the series, I continue explaining the P.E.C.S.I. framework by covering the final two components: S for Substantiation and I for Implication.

Part 4

In the fourth part of the series, I bring everything together by answering a Planned Response question using the full P.E.C.S.I. framework.

Part 5

In Part 5, I highlight the use of the Alternative or Broad Perspective and explain how to apply it within the P.E.C.S.I. framework to strengthen your stand.

Part 6

In Part 6, I continue building on the explanation from Part 5, further exploring how to apply the Alternative or Broad Perspective effectively.

Part 7

In Part 7, I continue expanding on how to introduce the Alternative or Broad Perspective.

Part 8

In the final part of the series, I wrap up by summarising what we’ve covered in the previous parts and reinforcing the key takeaways.

Now that you’ve completed all 8 parts of the series, I hope the P.E.C.S.I. framework feels clear and practical. Confident speaking is not about memorising perfect answers. It is about knowing how to structure your thoughts and express them clearly.

With consistent practice and a strong foundation, you’ll be ready to perform well in your O-Level Oral Exam.

Feel free to revisit any part of the series when you need a refresher.
